Champion of Hell's Arena
7 September 2006
Oh my, how I needed that! Work on DoomRL is progressing at a very fast pace. Since the last post I added Lua support and ported all Special Levels to Lua. This gave me so much power, that I just had to prepare a new extended version of Hell’s Arena! You can now become the Champion of Hell’s Arena — have you got what it takes? Also there are a few tweaks in other special levels and all of them are adjusted by Difficulty Level.
DoomRL beta tests have begun! Today I’ve posted the second beta, with the features discussed above. Now I need to move the rest of the data to Lua-files. Then I’ll move on to Progress Tracking and Challenge Modes.
Alive again!

Finally! Today I’ve spent a day on serious DoomRL coding. I finally finished porting DoomRL to the new Valkyrie library (some clean up left) and completed about two thirds of the Difficulty Levels code. At last some real work and not just that boring refactoring stuff!
Anyway, I hope this is a turning point in my productivity. I feel realy hyped now, because of the work done. Tommorow I’ll probably try to tackle Lua support.
Before 0.9.9 is out, there will be a few closed beta versions, mostly due to the fact that all this refactoring might have produced some nasty bugs that I don’t want the world to worry about. The versions will be discussed in a private board on the forum, if you want to beta-test — just ask.
The world ahead

I’m back. Still confused with so many things happening after the return, yet I feel refreshed and ready for action. Tomorrow I plan on resuming work on DoomRL, wish me luck! I’ll write something more as soon as I have something to write about.
To know the future is to be trapped by it

Time flies, I barely can guess where all this time that passed from the previous entry went. The finished exam session seems to have been followed by another session almost immidately. And now I’m on vacation.
I hope I will be able to regenerate some strength, and drop into projects again. Currently tough, I only worked on a non-roguelike related project. This schoolyear should be quite friutful, tough — I count on having a lot of free time.
I’ll write again here, once I have something to show (yes, this was just another usless rambling post…)
If you follow me, the entire world will be a battlefield

Exams aren’t over yet, I just need to spit out at least a fraction of the myriard of thoughts that take my mind under siege. The 28th marks the deadline of the last project (compiler) and the day of the last exam. I won’t be free untill the 15th of march tough.
Yet…
